What is closing and opening narratives?
Open & ending narrative meaning that something is left unresolved allows the audience continue guessing and debating Closed narrative- Closed narrative is usually a film that has a complete ending to it this is usually done to give closer to the audience e to that it doesn't leave them in suspense which tend to include soundtrack editing techniques and a variety of camera language. A Toy Story 4 is a typical example of closing narrative as they all tend to have an ending about as this child lover even for some teens. For children this is more satisfying as they often like stories which have happy endings and a degree of certainty. Adults may prefer this too as it is more satisfying and some closed ended narratives can make you feel happy or relieved.
Open narrative- Open narrative is usually a film is when open ended narrative meaning that something is left unresolved allows the audience continue guessing and debating. this is to create a suspense and follow on series this makes things and interesting. For some audiences this is better than a closed narrative. It leaves possibilities for what happens next and allows the viewer to use their imagination. It also leads them to discuss it with their friends, fulfilling the purpose of social connection. From a financial POV, it also allows for a better sequel.
